Yes, a domain name can be transferred. Let me explain how the process works.

A common mistake that is made is the assumption that because the form to sign up with Startlogic is submitted as a transfer, everything is taken care of and it?s not!!! Startlogic's responsibility is to inform the customer of the necessary steps to take in order to transfer a domain.
Now that we have gotten that out of the way, let me explain what to do from here:
Log into your domain. This is not your hosted space! This would be an online site that only deals with your domain name.
For example:
If your registrar is Tucows, then you would go to http://tucows.com
If you don't know how to log into your domain manager or didn't know you had one, don't panic, just get in touch with whomever you setup your domain with to begin with and take it from there.
The first thing you want to do is make sure your domain is unlocked and the name servers are pointing to Startlogic. It is more important that the domain is unlocked than the name servers being updated and here is the explanation why.
Think of a locked domain as a locked door. When we initiate the transfer and the domain is locked, then the transfer will fail and the process stops. Much like a locked door can't be opened from the outside because it is locked.
Why should you update the name servers?
Well this is entirely up to you. Understand that the domain registrar's main responsibility is to point your domain in the right direction. If your domain is not pointing to Startlogic, then how will your domain name resolve to the server we provide to you? Although the transfer will eventually point your domain to Startlogic, if you wish to have your domain name resolve to us immediately, update the name servers!
Make sure you know what the Administrative Contact email address is for your domain. If you do not know what it is, then ask the registrar you are currently with or whom ever you started the domain with. This is very important, I repeat, THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT!!! And I will explain why below.
Now that we got that out of the way, how do you initiate the transfer?
Simple, just submit an email to transfer@startlogic.com
In the email you submit, please include:
Domain name
Last 4 digits of the credit card on file with us
And the text Please transfer my domain?
When you submit this email, it will go directly into our ticketing system and you should receive an auto reply with a ticket number for reference.
Once an associate receives your request, an online form is filled out for the transfer. When this form is submitted, it is either accepted or rejected.
If the order is accepted then we will receive a message that reads like the following and respond to your ticket: Order has been processed and a letter has been sent to (Administrative Email Address)
Please understand that:
IF YOU DON?T RESPOND TO THAT EMAIL AND FOLLOW THE DIRECTIONS IN THAT EMAIL? THE TRANSFER PROCESS WILL CEASE!!!
If the transfer is rejected, we get an error as to why and then we inform you of the error in the ticket and what can be done to resolve the issue.
